“Hi. I’ve created a short ‘movie’ w/ Windows Live Movie Maker. I wanted to add a gif animated image at the end, but it won’t move or isn’t animated. I looked on YouTube for help, and I came across this reply from ‘JDoors’: ”Animated GIF files are not in a “video” format. YouTube (and WLMM) only accept video files. You’d have to find a conversion utility that can change GIF to one of the video formats YouTube and WLMM accepts.” I have an idea what that means, but I’m not too sure, for I’m not ‘tech-savvy”. Is there any way that this can be accomplished? Or can someone please help me? ‘

How to Insert an Animated GIF Into Movie Maker?

Method 1: Insert an Animated GIF Into Movie Maker

  1. Click “Start,” “All Programs,” then “Windows Live Movie Maker.”
  2. Click “Add videos and photos” at the top of the Movie Maker program window. Browse the folders or photo library on your computer to an animated GIF image you want to insert the movie. Click the animated GIF file to select it, then click the “Open” button.
  3. Click the “Video Tools” tab. In the “Duration” field, change the display time for the animated GIF seconds. By default, Movie Maker displays animated GIFs as clips in a movie for five seconds. Change the time value in “Duration” time, in seconds, to match the length of all animation movements in the image. If you are unsure of the duration of the animated GIF, open the image in a picture viewer and time the length of time needed to review all movements you want to appear in the movie. You can adjust the “Duration” as many times as needed until you find the correct value.
  4. Use the “Add Videos and photos” button to insert additional clips or images as needed. Click the “Add music” button to add audio or a music file that plays with the video.
  5. Make other edits to your Movie Maker movie as needed. Click the “Save Movie” button, choose a format and render the movie.
